Beyond

From time to time, we will encounter other Sylvanians that don't live in the village or within Mellowdene county. This is a place to bring that information together.

The Mist Cat Tribesmen of the West Buniyi Mountains

First encountered in the Real World story, these cats prefer an alternative lifestyle, living in caves and temporary shelters within the West Buniyi Mountains in Central Sylvania. Whilst they are overseen by a tribal matriarch, practical leadership duties are delegated to a more active cat - currently Felixor - and he is identified by a red cloth tucked into his belt.

Instructors from Pussyfoot Scout Camp

Within the story Kittie Camp the nine youngsters from Mellowdene are supervised and instructed by three hill cats, learning the basics of skills such as climbing, fishing and tracking.

For this year, the instructors are Brody Keats, Kirwin Fisher and Napoleon Sandy.

Employees of the TESE Advertising Agency

Located in Oak Tree Meadows, this advertising agency was formerly known as Tell 'Em Sell 'Em. We first encounter an employee called Bernard Sellars within the story Jingle Sells.

Musical associates of the songwriters Butterglove / Snow-Warren

Corbett Mulligan is a famous baritone who became aware of the songwriting team of Butterglove & Snow-Warren when he heard material on a Lionel Grand record. After discovering they were writing for an upcoming musical The Sylvan River he initially thought of auditioning but that fell through. However, he liked the songs so much he left his details so that they could discuss composing a number of songs for his next album.

Grant Foxworth is the producer of the musical The Sylvan River which had its premiere in Calico New City.

Judges from the Great Sylvanian Bake Off

In the story The Sylvanian Bake Offence, the contest organisers send two judges to Mellowdene in order to assess the baking by some of the villagers.

Mary Bear is a well-established and much loved character, but the other judge - Rudolf Patissier - is new to the role. He is a skilled pastry chef but does his personality suit dealing with nervous amateur bakers?

Field Searchers on the South Atlandian Mountains

The Isle of Atlandia is northwest of the Sylvanian mainland. Living on the slopes of the southern range of mountains are two contacts of Tara Lapine-Frost. These are the brothers Nikolaj and Kristian Snow.

Although not as knowledgable as Tara in her fields of biochemistry and geology, they are extremely competent as field searchers and more at home with their local environment. This includes an extensive plateau nestled in the mountains, much of which permanently experiences weather akin to winter. A large part of this plateau is known as the snow fields. We meet the brothers in the pair of stories entitled Winter Weather

The Sylvanian Research Group

The Sylvanian way of life is important to all within Sylvania. The SRG is organisation that seeks to protect that way of life whilst providing benefits to the population and environment.

Little is known concerning the details of the work they do, but part of their job is to act as doorkeepers to technology and influences from the larger world. They assess new technology, and only release it into Sylvania if it is both safe and beneficial to do so. Sometimes they allow limited field tests in certain villages.

It is confidently believed they have a scientific division that both develops existing non-native technology, and creates their own inventions. The actual work is top secret. Mellowdene resident Professor Newton Butterglove is involved with this division.

Some representatives venture outside Sylvania. There is also a dedicated department that deals with issues relating to the ocean border surrounding the Sylvanian Isles.

Ocean Department

In the story Fishing for Something, we see three members of this department. Steerman Werner Van Dyke, Engineer Turk Redbear and Investigator Berkley Chocolate.

Officials from Sylvanian Children's Services

Tiberius Rivers was despatched to Mellowdene when his office were notified that runaway Orton Butterglove had been located there. See the story The Wish List.

Legends of Sylvania

Most of those who have heard of the Packbat believe it to be an urban legend. Not Sylvanian at all. But if it does exist, where is it? Where did it come from?
