Cecile was particularly happy when she was told Rowan wasn't only visiting. He kept up the pretence until his family joined him and he revealed they intended to settle back in his home village.
Rowan is married to
Angelica and they have a son
Figwort and a daughter
Aster. Angelica now teaches at the school.

Cecile and Rowan are not the only Ivory descendants in the village. They have a cousin Coltsfoot Ivory. He has a wife Celandine and they have a son Chervil, a daughter Anise and a tiny daughter Honeysuckle.
Coltsfoot (usually abbreviated to Colt) used to play with Rowan and Cecile when they were children, their families both living in a tiny village towards the west boundary of Parva Silva. This came to an end when Rowan's parents moved to Mellowdene. Rowan and Cecile had finished school, but they still lived together as a family.
Shortly after Rowan left Mellowdene and went missing, Colt arrived in the village with his new wife and two babies. They settled in a cottage at the eastern edge of Mellowdene. A few years later, not too long after baby Honeysuckle was born, Celandine's father became ill and for a time her mother needed assistance with his care. To keep his family together, Colt took a temporary job so that they could move closer to his in-laws. Consequently, the family left their Mellowdene home in the care of their lodger and they moved away. Whilst their absence was over a year, it was always expected that they would return.
Coltsfoot Ivory is a skilled engineer.

Rowan and Cecile's parents passed away before Cecile married Jackson Butterglove. Frederick Ivory was known for crafting custom furniture.
Cornflower family (12)
Somewhere in the distant past this rabbit family shares a lineage with the Buttergloves. Sylvester Cornflower's five children had settled in Mellowdene County, and two of them reconnected to their distant relations via marriage.
The children are Trafalgar, Boswell, Wester, Godolphin and Tabitha.
Trafalgar married Athaliah Bonny and they have a son Nugget. (Mentioned/counted earlier.)
Boswell married Carolinda and they have two tinies, Phoenix and Unity.
Wester married Betsy and they have a sons Brady and Nipkin
Godolphin married Alga and they have two tinies, Ephraim and Gervase.
Tabitha married Jonathan Butterglove. (Mentioned/counted earlier.)
Although there is no known relationship with this branch of the Buttergloves, there is another Butterglove - Sophia - who is married to Hector Brighteyes. Similarly, an unrelated Dandelion - Conrad - is the partner of Kevan Buttermilk (documented in the Periwinkle family section).
The Snow-Warren family (19)
Bernard Snow-Warren has three sons -
Clarence,
Christian and
Nigel - and a daughter
Bianca.

The Periwinkle family (50+1 Dandelion)
|
Mabel and Mack |
Mack Periwinkle and his new bride Mabel (formerly Sycamore) moved from Stonehaven to Mellowdene around the same time his childhood friend Bernard Snow-Warren came to the village. They have three sons also living here, all married with large families.
Mack spends a little of his time as organist for Kelvin Waters, Mellowdene's spiritual advisor.
Mabel works part-time as one of the four switchboard operators that allow Mellowdene to connect long-distance calls to/from the larger Sylvanian telephone system.
Mack's sister Verity remained in Stonehaven for many years. She was later brought to Mellowdene by a rabbit called Jordan Milk.

Alex Periwinkle married Kate Buttermilk. Their children are Oliver, Rebecca, two toddlers Jamie and Hannah.

They have two other children (i.e. Katherine's siblings) also living in Mellowdene. These are Everett and Sawyer Honeydew. Everett works at the bank and is married to Vivienne (a woods-rabbit and forager) and they have son Button and a daughter Britney who is infatuated with ballet dancing.
|
Britney, Everett, Button,Vivienne & Sawyer |
Button is a little younger than Brendan Butterglove, and his nature is what one might call mercurial. Not in the temperamental way; it's more that his mind jumps about. He can be intensively curious about something so that he is single-minded in trying to find things out, then he'll move onto something else. Fond of asking questions - and not always the predictable way!
When he was born, he was excessively active, always wiggling about and trying to grab things. By accident his mother discovered that he'd calm down if he could hold onto the large button on her work clothes. That's how the baby Honeydew got his name. No one knows why he was so infatuated with a big button, but that's in the past. The only sign of this history is a button sewn onto the back of his jumper.
Sawyer Honeydew is a trained chef and he creates impressive flavours that he shares via the Mousehole Restaurant and Doughty Catering. Sawyer is married to Anya and they have two tiny daughters Meena and Tina and a tiny son Dean.

Before she was married, Verity Periwinkle's mother was called Agnes Milk. Her brother Erasmus had grandchildren Jordan and Julian Milk. They lived in Stonehaven.
Jordan knew Tamara loved living in Mellowdene and was tempted to move there. He mentioned his to his brother as it would affect him; they worked together. Living space in
They decided that it made sense to move too, the only issue being their abandonment of Verity. Georgina and Verity were close. The fact that Verity's brother and his huge family were already in Mellowdene was an integral part of Georgina's persuasive powers.

The Sparkle family (5)
Sylvester & Sylvia Sparkle have three children Renee, Renata and Gabriel.
Renee and Renata learned gymnastics and cheerleading at the famous Berry Grove School and the sisters are passing on some of their knowledge to their fellow students at Mellowdene School. Renee and Britney Honeydew are best friends.

Gabriel isn't particularly interested in cheerleading but he enjoys devising and playing sporty games with Barry Periwinkle and Adam Maces.

The family run Blackberry Orchards with support from the neighbouring Buttercup family who have a thriving lactolia dairy business. Dotty Buttercup usually runs the farm shop. In addition, the Blackberry's have made a deal with Charles Furbanks to periodically tow a fruit wagon behind his hot dog van, opening up an outlet in other parts of Mellowdene County. Betty Blackberry runs a fruit juice bar.

Perry - the youngest of the three by a few years - is a plumber, but his great love is gardening. His wife Anita prefers the indoors, liking everything to be neat and tidy. At first, some people thought their differences made them an odd couple, but love had other ideas. It's fair to say that, since they became parents to little Joseph, they are finding more common ground, and they are seen to be well matched after all.

Caramel is interested in all things nautical, so it is no surprise that she is friendly with Morgan Seabreeze. Because of her musical leanings, Belle lives at Minestrone House with her cousin Stella and fellow musician Tegan Golightly.
Frasier & Teri's eldest daughter Stella is shown here with her paramour William Cinnamon.
Stella lives with her cousin Belle (Aunt Cadbury's elder daughter) together with a silk cat Tegan Golightly at apartments in Minestrone House. Tegan and Belle are musicians, a cellist and violinist respectively, and they have access to a dedicated practice room that has been soundproofed in consideration of other residents.
When in the village, William is provided with a spare room - thanks to Henry Bearbury - which pleases Stella!

Daphne's sister Roz is married to Briscoe Vanilla. They live with Daphne and Roz's mother Gertrude Lindt. Roz is the proud mother of daughter Shelley and teenie tiny Eddie.
Hopscotch Rabbits (11+2)
Morgan and Isla Hopscotch are keen sailors. They have two children, Harlin and Teri. We have already introduced Teri, who married Frasier Chocolate.
Morgan is captain of the Seaside Cruiser, which - oddly - rarely dwells too long at the seaside these days. Like Horatio Seadog and his vessel The Marita May Morgan and Isla enjoy taking the Seaside Cruiser along the river, spending considerable time at Mellowdene Docks.
|
Grady and Esther
|
They visit their family, of course, but they are responsible for their two wards, siblings Grady and Esther Chocolate. They accompany Morgan and Isla when they can, but attend school in Mellowdene. They sometimes lodge with Niles and Daphne, adoring spending time with tiny Cookie.
Teri Chocolate's brother is Harlin Hopscotch. Harlin and his wife Heidi have a large family. Their eldest daughter is Siobhan, and other children are Skip, Bell, tiny Grace, the twins Honey and Hopper, and newborn triplets Philip, Flora and Fauna.
The Dappledawn family (12)
Herbage and Theodora have seven children - Radish, Tilly, Poppy, Rhianna, Franklin, Karina and baby Cotton.
Herbage's parents are Verden and Hazel Dappledawn. Due to limited bedroom space in their parents' house, sisters Karina, Poppy and Rhianna sleep in their grandparents' house.

Mookie Dappledawn is Herbage Dappledawn's uncle and is a sweet chap. He is a bit of a dreamer and has to concentrate a little more than most to keep all aspects of a task in mind. That means he is a touch more prone to forget things if his attention is not directed. But he tries! People are used to him and make allowances for such a nice gent.
He is knowledgeable about things that interest him, and Denzel Dandelion has learned some useful gardening tips from him. Apparently he and Wester Cornflower are aficionados of speciality cheeses from all over Sylvania. One can only imagine what their lengthy conversations are about!
The Columbus Seabreeze family (10)
Some years after Doris Columbus married nautical businessman Lawrence Seabreeze and had their children Tristan, Morgan & Nessie, they moved to Doris's childhood home in Mellowdene.
|

The other brother is called Nemo.
The Brighteyes family (9+1)
Howard and Marion Brighteyes have four children - Peter, Belinda, Charlotte & Olivia.
Howard's two nephews Mitchell (Mitch) and Maxwell (Max) are staying with the family whilst their parents are performing an extensive survey of Sylvania. Identical twins, it still is not easy to tell apart now that they are a little older; their nicknames of Mix and Match are still occasionally used. Their antics have since ensured their father Hector (Howard's brother) regularly visits. Although Mellowdene born, he and his bride met whilst he was living and working away from the village. His periodic visits have made him visit the place of his birth.
Marion is proprietress of the Blackcurrant Café.

Despite their sporadic visits to the village, Hector has ensured that he and his wife Sophia are listed as Mellowdene residents as they intend to settle there, rejoining their twins once the survey nears completion. Sophia is a Butterglove by birth but there is no known close familial connection with the established Butterglove family.
The Marguerite family (6)
The Marguerite family came from the village of Daisyville where there is a tradition of both mother and father giving their children two names. Landon [Sancho] and Lisa [Natalia] have a son Romeo [Rico] and a daughter Serena [Gabriella (Gaby)].

Emily's brother is Benjamin Oswald. He is married to Sienna, and they have a daughter Amber and baby Tuscany.
Emily also has a sister Rhona. Rhona left Mellowdene and married a rabbit called Eddie Sunny. Eddie's family pronounced their names Edy and Rooney. Since they returned to Mellowdene people tend to use the more familiar sounding names. They have three children - son Kevan, daughter Jessica and her tiny brother Wesley.

Norrie (Nora) Flora and his wife Aria have five children. These are Lennon, Alice and the triplets Rosemary, Thyme and Sage.
The Snow White Rabbit family (3)
Kit and Emilia Snow have a daughter Sophie.
Other Rabbits not already mentioned (1)
Also of note is a white rabbit who is quite fond of Nigel Snow-Warren - Tara Lapine-Frost. Whilst not resident in the village she lives towards the northern boundary of Mellowdene county, close to the canal and the hill cat community of Catsholme. She is a chemist and has worked with the Greybear Clinic in Central Sylvania. She often sources her own materials, in recent years for creating medicines.
Virtual characters
These are rabbits who, whilst Mellowdene residents, are not physical models in the collection. As such they do not contribute towards the population count. Their appearance will be irregular.
Cornelius and Letitia Dandelion are the parents of Denzel Dandelion and Eliza Butterglove.
Love reading about your families and their connections to each other
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sigrun, that means a lot.
DeleteFrom what I've seen of the residents of Mystique Valley I suspect you're like me, wanting to give your villagers their own personalities and quirks to make a proper community. I love your recent Hidden Hollow area.
